Long-Term Protection for Your Paint & Clear Coat

Automotive paint and clear coat are some of the most expensive parts of a vehicle to repair or refinish. Our ceramic coating systems are built around real paint protection, realistic expectations, and safer chemistry for daily drivers in Michigan.

We’ll walk you through which coating fits your vehicle, how you drive, and how you maintain it.

Why Paint Protection Matters

Once factory paint is damaged and repainted, it can’t truly be returned to the way it left the factory. Repainting a single panel can be very costly, and color match/texture are rarely “perfect OEM” again.

  • Helps preserve your original clear coat and finish.
  • Provides a sacrificial layer above your paint.
  • Helps maintain appearance and resale value over time.

Think of ceramic as a strong, durable “clear raincoat” for your paint — not a magic shield.

How It Works

What a Ceramic Coating Actually Does

Built around long-term protection – not just shine.

Benefits on a Daily Driver

A ceramic coating is a chemically bonded protective layer applied to your vehicle’s clear coat. It increases gloss, reduces surface friction, and makes washing easier – while helping protect against UV, road salt, and chemical contamination.

  • Deeper gloss and a sharper, “just detailed” look.
  • Reduced friction – dirt and grime remove more easily.
  • UV and chemical resistance to help fight fading & staining.
  • Washes become quicker, safer, and more satisfying to do.

Coatings don’t stop mud or dirt from sticking in extreme conditions, but they reduce long-term damage and make cleaning safer on your clear coat.

Safer, PFAS-Free Chemistry

Our coatings are based on DIY Detail’s latest formulas, designed around performance and safer chemistry. Their newest ceramic coatings are formulated without PFAS “forever chemicals”.

PFAS are extremely persistent compounds that do not break down easily in the environment and have raised health and environmental concerns. To our knowledge, DIY Detail is currently the only coating manufacturer that has fully removed these chemicals from its coatings.

That means you still get high-end ceramic performance, without relying on “forever chemicals” in the formula.

Options

3-Year, 5-Year & 8-Year Ceramic Coating Systems

We match the system to your vehicle, environment, and habits.

The “3-year / 5-year / 8-year” labels describe how long the primary characteristics of each coating are expected to last – things like maximum gloss, water-spot resistance, and chemical resistance. Protection continues beyond those windows, but the strongest traits gradually soften over time.

Water-Spot Resistant
3-Year Coating

Graphene-Enhanced Daily Driver Protection

Request Quoteprice varies by vehicle
  • Graphene oxide to slow mineral penetration into the clear coat.
  • Water-spot resistance typically in the 3–4 year range.
  • Protection and gloss continue beyond that as the coating slowly wears.
  • Great for daily drivers and customers most worried about water spotting.

Maximum Gloss
5-Year Coating

High-Gloss Ceramic Finish

Request Quoteprice varies by vehicle
  • Formulated for maximum gloss and surface slickness.
  • Provides a very “high-definition” look to your paint.
  • Does not prioritize water-spot resistance as heavily as the 3-year system.
  • Best for customers who want the strongest visual impact.

Maximum Durability
8-Year Coating

Harsh Environment / Long-Term System

Request Quoteprice varies by vehicle
  • Emphasis on chemical resistance and long-term durability.
  • Built for harsh environments like winter, salt, and strong chemicals.
  • Gloss remains strong, slightly less than the 5-year gloss-focused system.
  • Perfect for winter drivers, trucks/SUVs, and low-maintenance ownership styles.

Final pricing depends on vehicle size, paint condition, and prep needed (polishing, decontamination, etc.). We’ll give you a clear quote before booking.

Quick Comparison

Coating Main Focus Best For Key Benefit
3-Year (Graphene Enhanced) Water-spot resistance Daily drivers, outdoor parking, frequent washing Helps slow mineral penetration and reduce water spotting.
5-Year (High Gloss) Maximum gloss & slickness Appearance-focused owners Deep, wet-looking finish and very slick surface.
8-Year (Durability) Chemical resistance & longevity Winter drivers, trucks/SUVs, low-maintenance owners Built to stand up to harsh environments and longer wash intervals.
FAQ

Ceramic Coating FAQs

Book a Coating
Does the 3 / 5 / 8-year rating mean the coating “dies” at that point?

No. Those time frames describe how long the main characteristics (gloss, hydrophobics, water-spot resistance, etc.) are expected to stay at their best. Protection continues beyond that window, but the strongest traits gradually diminish.

Will a ceramic coating keep my car perfectly clean?

No coating can prevent mud or dirt from sticking, especially in extreme conditions like wet dirt roads or Michigan winters. What a coating does is make cleaning safer and easier, and help reduce long-term damage compared to unprotected paint.

Can ceramic replace body work or clear coat repair?

No. A coating is a protective layer on top of your existing clear coat – it won’t fix deep scratches, rock chips, peeling clear, or previous damage. It’s about preserving good paint, not replacing damaged paint.

Is there still a benefit over wax?

Yes. Traditional wax usually lasts a few weeks to a few months. Coatings chemically bond to the clear coat and are measured in years when cared for properly, offering stronger and longer-lasting protection.

What if I don’t wash my coated vehicle very often?

The 8-year system is tuned for harsher, low-maintenance ownership styles and environments. That said, regular washing still helps preserve the best performance of any coating and keeps the vehicle looking its best.
